G'day,
The calculated weight is not exact yet, but the
wing weight will not be a whole lot more than that of a ballestron. It is
smaller in area, but much more efficient.
The central rig is to allow the boat to go
alongside walls, other boats etc without having to worry about the rig hitting
things. The rig is designed to weathercock when not in use, so must have
room to rotate. As it is unstayed, there are only small downward loads on
the bridgedeck, so it should not be too hard to design for these.
We started a prototype rig for Elementarry, but
decided that the really interesting things would not scale.
