G'day,

A mate of mine just built a solid deck for his 24' cat.  Vac bagged Polycore with 600 glass on top, 400 underneath.  Finished weight was 2.3 kgs per sq m.  Strip planking does not need as much fore and aft glass as non structural core, so the weight works out pretty sim, ilar.  The savings are on the vac bagging and areas where the lengthwise strength is not required, such as bridgedeck and bunk bases, where we used Nidaplast/600/400  (similar to Polycore).  Vacuuming vs careful hand laminating will be closer to 0.5 a kg per sq m than 1.5.

Mark may have some more exact numbers, but is up to his neck in carbon poles for the next week or so.

regards,

rob

Using vacuum bagging and polycore I was wondering how much weight would
be saved for 'Rare Bird'. Is 1.2-1.5kg/m2 unreasonable? 300-500kg
overall?
Robert
