Tom Speer made some comments about the centre of inertia and the
centre of rotation need to be matched to avoid oscillations when it
has no sail up,

Visionarry with only the main and see how it works.  Should not be a
problem, but needs to be checked.  If there is a balance problem,
then a wing mast would be a partial (maybe complete) solution as it
moves the centre of effort forward, probably quite a distance vs a
rig with a large round mast.  Next thing to try is raking the mast
forward (easy with a wing, less easy with a round tube) which will
move the coe forward and if the mast is sitting on a stub mast
(which is vertical), it will also reduce the sheeting loads.  At the
expense of a peculiar looking rig, maybe with upwind deficiencies,
maybe with interesting structural problems.
