G'day,

I like rounded on the bottom of the leading edge and a sharp tip at the bottom of the trailing edge.  Gives an approximation to an ellipse, but is much easier to build and is not affected by rudder rake.  The bottom edge should be a 45 degree angle with a sharp point.  This prevents vortexes moving from the high pressure side to the low, but is a bit harder to maintain.

regards,

Rob

Subject: [harryproa] Rudder shape ?

Hi Rob or others,

What shape should the bottomn of the ruuder be?
Flat, and angled back because the rudder is angled forward(on my boat),
I Noticed you had curved yours round and put and edge on the bottom I think.
I have had a few dings but you can't help that.
What is causing less turbulence off the bottom of the rudder though?

Thanks
Doug
