Hi Sigurd,
I have a watertight compartment behind my daggerboard case so that if I ground the boat hard and the daggerboard pops out the back of the box it only fills up 1 small compartment....I know from experience that this works ok - at least on my boat!

And yes my nav is crap sometimes...especially when negotiating local waters that I supposedly 'know'!
