The finish I am thinking of is most of the hull made from flatt sheet
on tables with a few taped joins. The table finish would just be
painted and the fibreglass taping at the deck join I would leave as a
way of getting non slip at the edge to avoid slipping over the
side.Taping elsewhere on the sides I would try to make nice and smooth
but I am after a boat to sail. every extra kg of bog is an enemy to
performance ( I am trying to drop another 5-10kg myself to improve my
performance;<) Inside there would be some lightweight furniture and I
have even been considering bamboo mat as the inner surface instead of
fibreglass. It is slightly lighter and stiffer than glass but I have
yet to source a supplier at the right price. Otherwise , it would
simply be painted with little or no fairing. Certainly not a moulded
gelcoat finish.

For weight estimation, I would go for a pound a square foot for any
extra material over that on the latest Harry and I am allowing an
extra 100kg for going schooner rig with a slightly heavier boat. The
forces may be concentrated in the area around the masts, but there is
a fair bit of transfer of torque from the front to the rear and that
has to go through the dropdown section of the lw hull. Rounding the
corners with an 8"radius would significantly reduce the concentration
