Robert,

I am just taking from Dave Gerrs book, which is for power and sail, so he isn't particularly concerned with sailing loads. I calculated based on a 50' hull with a 3' beam and 6' height, giving a SN (scantling number) of 0.7. He adds a bit for particularly long skinny hulls based on the D/L ratio (I used 32).

Anyway, it all seemed reasonable to me, so I wanted to check with this group, because I have been under the impression that this is more glass than people have been talking about. It is also part of my earlier question of whether a harry (as typically built) would stand up to Cape Horn.

about half that except maybe between the beams on the lw hull. The

I was looking at 600g glass for the skins of a 50'/32'Harry but was
considering an extra layer on the bottom for abrasion resistance. I
was also looking at either 10 or 12mm core, eeven considering double
layers of 6mm for tight bends, but Rob reckons I can probably get away
with not needing to do this-- In harryproa@yahoogroups.com.au, Gardner
