Someone proposes to install a propeller in the rudder:

Should be a feasible option for a harryproa. Put one in each rudder,
and you can go any direction you like, and you won't even need to go
in reverse, so a folding prop would be quite practical. There'd be
more drag than with a retracted outboard, though, and this arrangement
is not an off the shelf component. Might still be worth it for a
larger boat having to manoeuvre in thight spaces.
