Duplicate, on a rotating stub mast, or removable. All are more
complex than a non shunter. Easy enough to make it automatic, if you
prefer complex over simple.

Maybe. I don't know enough about them, but if they can handle tacking
, they should be able to handle shunting, although you will need to
disconnect for the shunt, so easy enough to hook up the other rudder
post shunt.

Should not bother them. North, and the direction the boat is heading
are the same on all boats.

I don't like these on any boat, but they are especially a problem on
unstayed and rotating masts. I like little folding masts just
outboard of the beams, high enough to clear the windward hull.
