G'day,
Derek does it by eye and experience. Simple enough to do with a
kayak (just keep cutting and bending until it is fair and round,
probably need a cut every 6" or so) , but not as easy as bending a
partially glassed flat panel, then putting polystyrene ends on it.
However, for a kayak you will need to shape the ends to get some
rocker or it will be hard to paddle/turn.
You may also be able to use Derek's inflatable bag technique to
stretch the foam without having to make any cuts.
