Yes we are close but Gardner has house on west shore and I am on east shore farther north, abought a two hour sail with good wind (I think it's 15or 20 NM by boat) or around 70 miles by car. He also has house in PA where I believe he lives and will be building boat.
It would be great if we both ended up building same boat, we might be able to start a one design Harry fleet on the Chesapeake ! The Harryproa should be a great boat for the Chesapeake bay with it's shallow draft and the many cove and creaks that you could go into.
I am wandering what type of rudder system would be used. I do like having it on the LW hull but would like to know from current owners how the rudder works when it can only rotate around 270 degrees. Is this a real inconvenience or do you get used to it to the point that it is second nature and you do not have to think abought it when you shunt ? For shallow water how far can you raise it and still have minimal steerage under power. And can rudder rotate when you hit ground sailing ?
