Hi,

Nice to hear about relaunch. Congratulations.
We (me, wife, kids and the dog) just finished our sailing season. This
weekend we motored the boat 70 miles to the harbor where to the boat is
to be lifted and demasted for the winter. We slept two nights anchored
in natural harbors. Outside temperature varied between -2 deg celsius to
+13 degrees.
I have decided to install Raymarine SPX-5 tiller pilot for next summer.
I will use removable tiller attached to rudder shaft. A drawback is that
the autopilot arm must be disconnected for every shunt but not a big
deal since it is mostly used for cruising.
Steering on our boat works pretty nicely now . Nothing needs to be done
for it for next season.

Regards,

Arttu

first time. And of course this is the opportunity to see how tyhe new
rudder set up works.
> In short: everything seems to work pretty well. We didn't have much
time to do any mileage, and we didn't sail at all. We brought it to the
nearby marina and to do so we had to negotiate two bridges and a lock
all of which are 9m wide. That is narrow with a boat 8.25m wide.
> The Yamaha is great, much more powerfull than the normal 15 hp we used
before. Having the 3.5kW electric motor under the ww hull bridgedeck
enables us to turn the boat and position it without any speed.
> Hopefully that will keep the bows from being used as fenders in the
future when manouvering in harbours.
> The steering mechanism seems to work pretty good, there is no play and
nothing seems to bend or stretch. Of course things haven't really been
under any significant loads yet. I am filling and fairing the rudder
blades now some more. Next week more testing, will keep you all posted.
