Hello Rob,
Have you been using epoxy on vinylester vary long ?  I have had problems mixing epoxy with polyester in the past so I prefer not to mix resin types.  I seem to get good bonds with VE resin on VE (sand between bonds). The epoxy degrades more from UV and I have had patches made with epoxy on old fiberglass that would come off after a few years that seemed fine when work was done.  Is there some reason you  just don't use VE for everything.  I used a special VE infusion resin (Hydropel R016) for infusion and then a regular VE resin for the hand layup.   The infusion resin is too thin for hand layup.

Vinylester for the infusion, epoxy for the rest.  It is important to leave the ve for a day on the table to ensure a good finish, and then another couple of days (more if it is cold) for it to cure properly before epoxying it.  I use peel ply on all areas of the infusion that will be secondary bonded.  peel it off and glue to it, no sanding required.
