Canards work a treat.  On Rare Bird (Gladstone boat) upwind it was far better steering with the front rudder and locking the rear one.  Could point higher without worrying about the sails stalling and was much more maneuverable.    Off the wind, lift the front one and steer with the aft one.

Got the bow foam on the ww hull of Solitarry today.  Finally had to do some torture boarding, although sanding extruded polystyrene is pretty easy.
