Thornel carbon is sold by Cytec, who are very good.  I could not find anything on their web page about P 25.

The 4K means each strand has 4,000 fibres.  This is pretty fine (I use 50K) so you will need to do a lot of winding or pull multiple rolls (I use between 3 and 10 rolls of the 50k at a time) which means buying a lot more than you will need.

No idea what 322 means, but ST probably means standard modulus, which is what you want.

Suggest you ask Cytec for the missing bits and also whether it is sized (a treatment which makes resin stick to the carbon) for epoxy.  Most tow is compatible, but not all.

regards,

Rob

Hi,

Can you post again what sort of thing I should be looking for in carbon fiber tow? Is there a simple term that I need to be looking for? Right now I am just thinking about the crossbeams for a elementarry type proa. I was going to try the folding method that rob is using on Solitarry, but I figure that we probably can't use carbon cloth, because it won't bend. I was planning on 17oz fiberglass cloth, with carbon tow running lengthwise.

Anyway, I found this on ebay, and it had some specs, so I thought someone could tell me if this is the type/weight of tow that I should be looking for:
