Hi Gardner,

Sailing sidecar to the bahamas should be fun.

I don't like beam on too much, on the aft quarter is much more comfortable sailing.

I like the 6m ww hull. This 4.5m one is too squat/fat to part through stuff.

I like to reef at about 10-12 knots (this is cruising carefullly, it would be fun to hold up full sail longe3re), then take down jib. then second reef.

Battery runnibg out, bye

Hi Doug,

I am modelling my camper proa on your sidecar and I was wondering if you could tell me what your basic dimensions are at the moment. I know that you lengthened the lw hull, and you now have the harrigami mast, which I found listed as supporting 333 sq ft of sail. I am drawing mine with a 9.1m lw hull with a waterline beam of 300mm, slanting out to 450mm at the deck. The ww hull is 6m with a waterline beam of 450mm.

How do those dimensions compare to yours?

What can you tell me about the performance of the boat? You remarked that you had light air recently. Did it sail well then?

What about heavier air? At what windspeed do you reef, and what is your boatspeed then? I assume beam reach is your best point of sail?

Thanks,
- Gardner
