IF YOU NEED TO GET TO THE END OF THE BOOM, THEN YOU HAVE TO DOP THE SAIL, BUT YOU SHOULDN'T NEED TO DROP THE SAIL TOO MUCH. wHEN i ANCHOR i JUST THROW IT IN AND THE START DROPPING THE SAIL. iT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE THE BOOM IS- AS LONG AS IT IS WEATHERCOCKING THEN IT COMES DOWN EASY.
tHE RIG ALWAYS WEATHERCOCKS UNLESS I LEAVE UP THE JIB AND REEF THE MAIN - HEN THE BALANCE IS OUT WITH TOO MUCH FORESAIL. i COMMENTED BEFORE THAT i LIKED IT WHEN THERE WAS ONLY A MAIN BECAUSE THE JIB COULD CATCH THE WIND A BIT SOMETIMES AND IT WASN'T AS CALM AS WHEN YOU LUFF UP WITH JUST THE MAIN.

Is that because the reefed sail no longer weathervanes? I still think it could get hairy dealing with any problems. It is certainly the case that the boom thing is very full and is great for supporting lazyjacks, and other stuff that could be useful. Just seems like a very bad place for a mainsail in a big blow.
