I will build the races from glass/epoxy (vinylester would be harder, but i am working in the garage now and the smell rules it out).   They will be full complement bearings, which are not as low friction as the captured balls in the commercial bearings, but they take a higher load.

Thanks for all the kind offers.  McM C would not even take my credit card details in the end, so I bought them from Italy.  Bit cheaper, but I had to buy 1,000, so I have some spare if anyone wants them. 

They are for a rudder bearing on El.  Just seeing what works.
