I think the reason is that the balance in rudder vs ruddershaft location
gives too much pressure to the helm. it should be more neutral probably
on our boat. If sailing under main sail only fast reach or upwind and
surfing down bigger waves the bow bury combined with all the previous
things can change the balance very suddenly to very windward . Then I
felt it almost broachind and had to steer heavily to lee side. Bigger
rudders cause quite heavy steering loads. It feels very unpleasant when
the boat wants to go when the gust comes. Big rudders is an answer to
this, but I like more to have smaller rudders and adjustable boards. If
I want to sail fast big rudders are not nice.
And opposite: light wind windward high angle slow speed, small rudders
may stall when you steer.

But I might be wrong.
