The glass absorbs water in high humidity.  It should boil off under vacuum, but doesn't always, resulting in a less than perfect infusion.

Beam is strong and wide enough, but the edges are bigger diameter than I thought they would be so slipping off will be pretty easy.  800mm off the water.  I don't like it as it is attached to the mast but still needs caught aback support and fore and aft lines, all of which make it more complex than I would like, with more to go wrong.   Original plan was to have staunchions and life lines on it which would double as part of the structure, but this got messy where they attach to the mast.  I will try it, but do not hold out much hope.

Started cutting foam for the pro built one today.

Also is it high enough up off the water?
What didn't you like about it?

The beam has been built but I am not very happy with it, so have not
bothered photograhing it.  The lee hull has been joined into a single
piece (it too difficult to align and rigidly attach 3.5m add on ends in a way that would make them removable) and
sort of painted but is difficult to make it look like anything other than a
long skinny item.  The 16m x 4m table has been built, rebuilt and
polished within a cigarette paper of level and is now ready for
infusing my rig and the first  professionally built Solitarry, which was meant to start today.  However, 90% relative humidity (there has been a bit of rain in Queensland the last month or so) is above the limit for cutting glass, so we still wait.  .
There should be something to
talk about in the next week or two.

Jan, I sent the above to you after your enquiry a month ago, but it bounced repeatedly.  If you send me personal mails in future and do not get a reply, please try with another address or through the group.

regards,

Rob
