I have considered it briefly, but I need something bigger, because I am both a porker and old and lazy, so my minimum level of comfort is higher than yours. Plus, the shipping costs are prohibitive, for a low cost boat, I think.

I think you will need to find a more local buyer. I wish you good luck.

I would definitely like to have one built. It is none of the ones I have posted so far; I have been working on it for a while, but I am not totally finished with the drawings. Hopefully soon.

I am still on the fence about going with the largest boat I can squeeze into a container, or going with a sidecar type single person cruiser. Alot depends on what it would cost to have them built. If I can get the "maxi" built for less than twice the "mini", it would probably make more sense to go bigger.

I will post as soon as I get the drawings done. It is pretty unusual (possibly overly complicated). I will be interested in feedback.

I am fairly certain that Rob meant that a single Solitarry was being built under contract for a customer. I am particulary interested in this idea as I have been working on a design based on Rob's work that I would really like to have built.

In terms of build methods, Rob has gone far beyond the Kelsall KSS methods, partly due to the fact that Rob is willing to restrict the hull shapes to those which can be built using flat panels and fiberglass bending, and partly because Rob's focus is very much on reducing the time to build and is willing to make some tradeoffs to do it. Derek's method is more applicable to a more general set of boat designs; Rob's is specific to his. The real upside of this is that the numbers I have seen for build time on Rob's designs is in the range of 500 hours for a 50' boat, like Solitarry. That has a HUGE impact on the cost, especially if you are having it professionally built, because those professionals like to get paid for every hour they work!

Anyway, I (an most everyone here, I expect) is anxiously awaiting more news on progress... hopefully Rob won't get hit with too much flood damage down there in Brisbane.

professionally built solitarry? i didn't realize it was going into production. thought you were still prototyping.

what about the rest of your product line? do you plan on producing elementarry's in your shop? can harry's and visionarry's be made with the kelsall method??
