At the beginning of this clip it may show you better our regular wind
direction side off shore. The gondola is heading pretty much straight into the wind. Watch the dinghy's sails and direction sailed while making his tacks sailing back up wind to that little dock.

It gets hard to show due to the camera's perspective. Most days at that spot the wind is side off coming from the upper left hand corner like in the clip above. While sailing from right to left parallel to the beach towards that little pier with the flags on top it is roughly between 25 and 40 degrees to true wind angle depending on wind most days. Sailing back down its a lower course more like broad reach until I turn sailing towards the beach or out away from shore. The flags don't show it again camera perspective.
