No. Trim tab on the rudder is another setup. Servo pendulum is a foil in the water that is steered by the windvane and that is used to give mechanically more power to the signal sent by the windvane. Scanmar International has good explanation on its web page.

so servo = trim tab on the rudder?

I have seen that trim tab operated by small elect. tiller pilots - need minimum juice because of amplification due to trim tab. but needs to be mounted on (and move with) rudder - afaik

my understanding is that the servo is just a foil in the water whose AOA is adjusted by the wind vane. changing the AOA causes it to swing sideways about a horizontal axis. this movement is then coupled to the rudder(s). so yes, it needs to be shunted, but no, it does not need to be trailing at the back of the boat. agree?

i think the optimal place for the wind vane would be on the ww hull away from the sail turbulence and in the fore-aft center of the boat. the servo would be best in the lw hull to insure it was always in the water if the ww hull flew, and again in the fore-aft center. not ideal to have to connect the two at such a distance, but you've already got other lines traversing the tramp, so what's one more.
