As far as I know, the only rig difference is that BD has a stiffer
mast. BD is/was considerably lighter (2 and a bit tons vs 3 and a
bit), has less windage and a rockered ww hull. My guess is that once
the sailmaker has a look and the crew gains some
experience/confidence, the speeds will increase dramatically.
