Cool idea, and used on some boats.  Stops being a cool idea when you are caught aback in a tight space or gybe unexpectedly so not recommended for cruisers.  As the boat gets bigger, the compression loads also get harder to manage.

how about a harry proa (accommodation to ww) type platform with a rig that is supported by a solid spar to ww, and can pivot fore and aft to find balance on any point of sail, as well as producing lift when anywhere but centered. see attachment if i can post it.
