Rob

Look forward to seeing you here.

No photos.  We did measure the rudders; 900 deep and 450 chord.  They are not quite a NACA0012 but maybe a little more rounded at the nose so should actually have a higher stall angle.  The trailing edge is quite a large radius so they might start to sing at higher speeds than we have been up to.  We did not use the centreboard on either tack when we were sailing last time.  So nothing to do with centreboard.

I do have a couple of photos of the sails but they are from the first time I went out and could not be set properly.  Various modifications have overcome that.

My VPP predicts the weather helm.  It is simply related to the lateral offset of the drive and drag. It really is only an issue if you are trying to sail to windward in light wind.  Particularly if the wind is moving about.  The minimum speed for control will be a bit lower now that the hulls are clean - may be as low as 2kts.  Before it was closer to 3kts.

I am certain that if any harryproa was racing in ghosting conditions the crew would be looking to have the ww hull on the lee side for some part of the course.

Greg,

In the Files section,  in the Wooden Boat Design folder.   http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/harryproa/files/Wooden%20Boat%20Competition/Rob/

Cramped overnight accommodation/shelter for non sailors on cold days, very quick on/off the trailer and the numbers indicate good performance.  A bit long for easy trailering, but if that isn't a problem, it should clean up all the beach cats.  Can be ply, but in Aus, foam glass was cheaper and lighter.  Set up as a schooner for easy learning and because of the length restriction, but could easily be a una.

Any questions, let me know.

Rick,
Looks like I will be in Melbourne the last week in Feb.  Have you got any photos of the rudder/daggerboard set up and the rig?  I'm pretty sure the low speed steering issue will be caused by  one of these.

Hi Rob, got a link on the Wooden Boat Challenge boat? This would be a true daysailer/racer, and not need overnight capabilities. Quick on the water if you will.
