34 seconds into this clip you will see a pedal drive system I did for an 8t cat.  They can do about twice the speed with these compared to what they could achieve with oars.

The units fold up on the access steps as soon as sail overtakes pedal.  We found we needed flip up units because it was almost impossible to release cleats once the prop was overdriving the pedals and near impossible to stall the prop - they are 30" diameter.

So, are those guys rafted up with outboards helping, making the skuller being somewhat redundant (I know he's not 15 horsepower+)?  Or are they just rafted up with their engines off, making his his life more difficult?  I don't see any turbulence coming off that inflatable's motor...

Fitting up a nice set of proper carbon fiber oars would be great, though I'm not sure where they would go.  On a removeable frame towards one end of the lw hull?  Unfortunately that would give you a huge effective beam, making it tough to maneuver.

It would be neat to have a bracket with a propeller that flips down, propelled by a system like the one rick uses for his pedalboats.  That would probably provide the most power.

As a friendly coast guard as the Dutch have is not available everywhere to tow in the boat what would it take to bring a vis in manually if not waiting for the right wind and sailing in carefully?
