The points are well taken, Rob, but the question centers around the "pull it inboard". In a monohull being in the wind positions the wishbone end well within reach to unblock lines. In the HP at one point the wishbone with some sail stuck has to swing around over the deck and that part of the sail may not be so docile in heavy winds while also getting the boat moving. I may be making a mountain out of a mouse, but I'd like not to find out in real life.

As Mike said, no reason why you could not point the boat into the wind, the same as the mono.  Could actually point it a little past the wind so the boom was over the deck and steer the boat "in reverse" to keep it in position.  This is far better than motoring into the wind on a mono.
The usual problem with reefing lines getting tangled at the end of the boom is because the loose lines from the deeper reefs get tangled.  With only one reefing line for all the reef points, this is much less likely.
70 knots is pretty scary.  And extremely unusual.  It is much more common on boats with tall masts, whipping around in big seas, than it is on stattic weather stations.

Another safety advantage of the HP I learned recently is the lack of open stern scooping water sliding down backwards on a steep wave and still have the open deck feeling but oriented to the safer inner side.between beams and lw hull.
Would be pretty awful being pooped (the boat effectively stopped in the water, stern to the waves with the mast in the water and/or the longeron/bowsprit hanging down only supported by the trampoline),  or sliding backwards down a wave after a missed tack.  It is going to be interesting to hear what actually happened to the GB and whether anything needs changing.

Rick,
Absolutely agree about the winch positions.  The new boats have a much better layout.  Also about the schooner vs ballestron and the boom height, which is another advantage of the wishbone boom set up.
