The diesel is Chinese made.  Not certain what name it is sold under but like Punsun.  They have become quite popular for motor bike conversions.  Time will tell regarding durability.

In the present configuration the generator circuit is completely independent of the batteries.  In battery operation the current is limited by the controllers not the batteries.  The input power peaks at 10kW on each drive which gives 8.5kts in calm conditions with a clean hull.

The speed of the electric drives simply follow the diesel engine rpm.  Essentially it is an electric transmission for the diesel although the output of the electric motors is geared down to drive the 540X520 props.

Is there a motor controller in your setup? What diesel motor are you using? Is it possible to run the generator output thru the battery bank and have more current available to the motors?
