I guess I just answer part of my question while looking for storm emergency behaviour ... My first reaction in a big storm would have been to try to steer the boat as much as possible away from the storm, thus "needing" to sometimes shunt. But I guess that at some point, raising the rudders and using a drogue or sea anchor would make more sense than keep trying to steer to escape ... It would just be hard to know when is the time to switch!

 

Any comments would be much appreciated !
