I think the schooner rigs can move the sails center of effort aft to where the boat runs flat.  That was the solution to the Americas Cup (they got the boat running flat) and it made the New Zealanders crewing the boat untouchable.


The difference between a good performance and a great performance is often tiny, just a tweak here and there. The HP is very, very close.
