Rick,  "The flat bottom on the harryproa is a recent innovation.  I believe all operating harryproas have semi-circular sections on the lw hull and slightly flatter sections on the ww hull.  The flat bottom is something Rob is trialling with Bucket List following the demonstrated performance advantage of a hard chine lightweight hull at speed where dynamic lift becomes significant."

Ahh, I honestly did not know that. I have only been looking at his recent designs that have flat bottoms, pretty much the 20 meter design exclusively.

Now it all makes sense to me. I should apologize for the confusion I have caused, I was envisioning a flat hull shape when it was round. My mistake, Crouch's calculations are not very applicable. It was my lying eyes, I should know I can't see below the surface.

Thank you for the information in the rest of your post it was exactly what I was looking for.  May I add that the surface interface drag on the rudders and waves hitting the boat become huge sources of drag at speed.

Again my apologies for any confusion I may have caused.
