Hi group,

Really nice design and nice 3d rendering for the Harryproa cruiser 60 foot.

Thanks

I have a beginner question for you. If I watch the leeward hull ( with the mast ), it's relatively low on the water and with some speed with and little wave, I can see a lot of splash on some design ( see the youtube link below ). Why this hull end is so low on the water ?  For the windage ?  And what happen when you are in serious weather and go a little too fast down a wave and the boat enter in the water wall of the next wave ?

The amount of bow down trim is magnified by the waves and the excessively blunt bows on the early boats.  Look at the stern to see how much it is up.  This will give a better idea of the bow down amount.  The bows are lower than catamaran bows as they do not have to keep the fore beam and trampoline out of the water.  They are higher than most similar size or weight trimarans.  In most of the designs, the back of the hull has to be out of water almost to the centre before the bow goes under.    In my experience, sailing into the back of a big wave is not a problem.  The bows lift and/or go through it.

Do you have video footage of modern proa in serious weather ?

No.  There are a couple of examples of them surfing across river bars in big seas, which they handled with ease.  And there is the story of Aroha crossing the Tasman, see http://harryproa.com/?portfolio=harry

Thanks in advance for your anwsers and sorry for my English,

No problem, it is much better than my French.  Any other questions, please let me know.
