the original discussion was intended to be about IGE assisted lift
that is to say, to lift the boat up out of the water and reduce drag

I think it got side tracked explaining what IGE (In Ground Effect) is !

I know of a  solid wing deck trimaran (SuppleJack) which took off and capsized on a swing mooring in NZ many years ago,  helped by it's wing mast.

How is HP different from an (open) bridgedeck catamaran (or a newick trimaran with 'solid wings') - have they ever reported lift-off?
