Need not be as wide as that illustrated in the latter photograph, just a little baffling why it is as large as it appears. Personally I would probably ship the ramp before sailing off with it still down. Inevitably a cover on the bridgedeck top seems like a wise precaution. Some access would be nice though too for deck level maintenance.

How to raise and lower it might be a proposition worthy of some consideration. Simple over the centre lever rotating through 180 degrees?
