El has sliding beams.  Hard work to get them aligned.  Parallelogramming the beams around schooner masts works if length is not a problem, the tramp can be organised easily and there are no rudders or outboards on the beams.  These limits apply to all beam reduction methods.   Farriers system is very clever, but very hard to make work on a proa.  A distant second, in my opinion, is the tapered ends on BL, but these need a wide ramp and dismantling area.  For sliding and folding methods, there will always be a number of compromises, so each boat needs to be looked at with strict attention to it's likely use and what trade offs are acceptable.

What if the beams just fit onto a slot molded on top of the hull and are fastened down?

Pop them in and out and you are good to go.
