If your goal is to save cost you should do the analysis of what actually costs in a boat. Keep in mind that the waterline is not necessarily expensive. Details and paid labor hours add cost. Everything you stuff in to your boat adds cost and weight. And weight requires bigger rig and engine and heavier hardware and therefore add cost. So adding complexity may cost more than the shortening of boat saves. Keep it simple and keep it light are usually the best ways to keep the cost down.

In order to aid the discussions, I have uploaded some 3D sketches of what I have in mind. To my eye, it looks reasonable, but I want feedback, or I would not be posting.

The sketches are PDF files under Cruiser40 in the Files section of the forum.

Let me know what you think.

Well, the comparison intended is with 30'ish trimarans and trying to eliminate space that is only used half of the time, day vs night, sailing vs mooring, with vs without guests, bad vs good weather, ...
Carrying "in case" space is expensive. But double use call for conversion techniques that require smart compromises over those of the planform like the proa itself. And then the market even requires it to look good and allow ad lib changes.

If the accommodations of that cat are your target I would be inclined to reuse the center part of the mold of the 30' ww hull for the lw hull and just extend the bows up to 40'.
