I guess when you consider the ultimate test of stability/instability and control, that of foil born proas. Centre rudders do not come into the equation.

Just as it is true to the obliquely relevant science of aircraft design too, where wings support the mass and tails offer the control and balance. And where many variations have been attempted, yet ultimately the load bearing wing and aft tail combination has been the prevailing and most successful design.

So Its a fizzer of an idea. Still it has been worth investigating, if for nothing else than that point about using a board for better upwind performance.
