I get it. Thanks. My brain was stuck in the old mode of an
outside cockpit on top of the bunks, so adding overhang meant either
taking away from the cockpit or adding folded width.
The centered or slightly-offset hull might work. I'd miss the
clean lines of the current design, but the overhang might help with
spray, and as you point out, there would be less of a well under the
deck for feet.
Where would you put the galley and head with a geometry like
that? How would you get to the head?
<<I do not quite understand "The tri can widen out the stern

It's really easy for the tri to carry weight aft without upsetting
the balance of the boat. If you want the crew and a motor way back
in a cockpit, just widen the hull back there to handle the load and
the boat remains level. It will also help resist pitching moment
from the rig, which is handy.
The proa would require a bit more thought to balance out the
weight because the hulls are symmetric, so the centering the cockpit
and the galley are important.

Yes, the Ex40, as you mentioned, is the most bang for the still containerable HP cruiser.
The Dragonfly 28 however is the largest trailerable tri from their range. For a HP to stay within a beam of 2.5m folded means = 2.0 m for the berth accross + 0.5 m for the lee hull.To stay within 8.5m of length of ww hull = two 1.5m berths + 0.8m galley + 0.7m head + 0.8m berth + 0.7m companion way + 1.25m bow ends. Instead of the hull way on the side to use as corridor, bring that more to the center of the cabin with an overhung bench of 0.5m on ww side of a 0.5m wide sole (headroom easily 1.9m) with 0.5m of bench and 0.5m of foot space to lee (together = 2m) under the outside bench, much like an exagerated german sol but with Steinar style longitudinally placed outside bench. Also excellent deck clearance and low windage as there is no fight for headroom in the center line of the cabin. With 12m high schooner masts this could easily beat the Dragonfly on all counts if the tight folding of the HP can accomodate the placement of the rudders. Would love to make the video to compare the spray from the "floats" of both boats from 13 knots on.
I do not quite understand "The tri can widen out the stern to take the weight of the cockpit and aft cabin."
