I have a cruiseROwatermaker, It costs $3k plus a Honda 2000 $900.


It makes 36 gallons an hour with two filters haven't had any problems in over three years with it.

I don't like that I have to be sitting at anchor to use it though (the generator) and the Honda 2000 is just barely big enough to start the pump, no problem once it is going though.

Even though the Generator is relatively quiet it is still noisy in dead silence. Next time I am going to have enough batteries and an inverter to run the water maker for an hour at a time. Basically the idea will be to make water when the batteries are fully charged and the Solar panels are idling, this way I can size the electrical system to last for several days with no sun.

Right now the inverter helps get the pump started and then drops off and the generator provides the power to run the pump.
