We ask too much from windows. They have to some of the time let pass and some other time block a full combination of conditions like light, sun, air, wind, damp, rain, waves, sound, insects, ... And at the same time tihey have to be quick to build, light, durable, resistant, reliable, esthetically pleasing and ... cheap. From a design point of view this looks way more complicated than conceiving the rest of a boat. 


I consider the window technology and the conditioning of internal space of cars at the top of what technology compromises can offer in that regard, profiting from the enourmous economy of scale. There are important lessons to be learned. Plus for boats we need to add further constraints like stronger forces and even more water proof.


So I'd rather explore ways to keep the windows fixed shut as part of the wall at an angle determined by the range of climatic conditions of the region and add more simple workarounds for what is not covered by that. eg fresh air can be provided by ample built in dorade boxes; breeze with built in directed fans; air conditioning if one must ...
