Regarding the comment about paralell rigs:

I puchased plans from Berndt Khoeler on his DUO 800S ( s means symetrical hulls) where it includes how to modify flag poles and use them as free standing masts in the parallel rig. Seems to be a reasonable and inexpensive alternative

You can google duo800s catamaran and can read all about it.
