The schooner rig certainly offers the potential to recover from rounding up without shunting back out. 


So far there are no schooner rigs on any of the large HPs.  Until tested it is impossible to be certain that there are no unforeseen downsides.  We considered it but there is a large cost involved.  One factor not immediately apparent is that both masts need to be designed to handle the maximum righting moment.  That means each  mast on the schooner rig is the same size as the single mast on the Aerorig.  That results in added weight as well as the added cost.

Would you agree that exchanging the balestron with a schooner rig does change the set of vectors involved and adds a degree of freedom that could help mitigate the disadvantages of the standard HP double board/rudder setup (and keep its advantages)? Would this be worth it?
