Mike,

Can you explain a bit about the Advance Wing System? I went to the links, and if you had not told me it was a wing, I would have never known. They don't seem to give any decent pictures or description. Is it just a mainsail made from 2 regular sails?

  That OneSail is nice.  It's much simpler than the original Omer design (three separate panels to reef, hydraulic camber adjustment on every tack...).

  The T at the top of the mast concerns me in that it represents weight aloft at the extreme as well as concentrated stresses, which means more weight.  Also more windage aloft in a big blow, so less than idea for a cruiser.  That said, it would reduce stresses on the sail.

  My favorite sail until recently has been the SoftWing:

  It's has the leading edge of the OneSail, yet doesn't require the T at the masthead, and will automatically take its shape without having to adjust the camber.  The sail shape is also just beautiful.

  However, I have worries about the internal structure needed to get that great shape.  All those battens, lines, and blocks...  That's got to add to the cost, as well as create maintenance/longevity issues when cruising. 

  I'm also a bit unsure of both the OneSail and SoftWing with regards to chafe on the mast from the "parrels" and how things would age when bumped about in choppy seas with light winds.

  It looks to be a simplest design that has the added benefit of working with standard sail track, so a traditional single-skin sail would also be an option as a replacement or backup.  I particularly like the lack of complexity inside the sail, as well as the lack of hinges, pivots, and folds.  With a rotating mast it would be even better than the stayed rig shown.

  The Advanced Wing Systems sail lacks the smooth leading edge of the OneSail and SoftWing, but I'd probably give that up in return for less weight, increased reliability/longevity, and the cruising benefits of less windage aloft and the ability to keep a single-skin replacement sail on board.

One Sail are saying '20% smaller area for same performance'
but it is perhaps less sophisticated than where we left discussions last
But it has to be said it has some nice features too
It can be reefed
Camber can be changed
Nicely balanced around the mast enabling retrofit applications more easily
