I have been running the numbers trying to use increased camber and chord to equalize the pressure from the top to bottom "limiting the transverse flow" it starts looking like a triangular sail : (

Yeah you are probably right.  The downside risk is very low and it is probably easier than simply fairing the wingtip anyway.
