I have listed the numbers previously as well as the cost.  300kg for 9kw of semi-flexible panels 600kg for 50kWh of batteries including mounting.

For example:
Panels

90 of the 100W panels will weigh about 100kg so a good allowance for mounting in the 300kg.   Some panels have better impact protection so are heavier - my 100W panels are over 2kg.  Take maximum offered price of USD1.1/W gives price on transport of USD9.9k.  Then there is transport costs and maybe duty so say USD16k for 9kW. You could get rigid landed for USD1/W but there is a huge weight penalty.

Batteries

32 of these cells is USD19.2k.  I recommend they be set up as two separate 48V batteries to limit the fault level and provide redundancy.  One bank could be used primarily for house requirements.  Total weight of cells is 458kg so 600kg gives allowance for decent boxes.

Less than 25% of the boat mass dedicated to propulsion system having infinite range.  The panels serve the additional benefit of providing durable sun shade and the battery offers ballast to make a stabilised monohull self-righting.  No great structural loads to contend with.  Driving force in line with drag - no heeling or pitching moments to contend with.  Can be made streamline for water and wind from all directions.

Your 8000 lb boat needs 3 hp to go 8 knots? Okay. How much of that weight is in solar panels, batteries, controllers and support structure for everything?
