Talador,

The main thing about the dive compressor is that it would save your back.  They are loud though, I don’t think running it at cocktail hour would make you many friends.  The electric ones aren’t really ready for prime time yet on small boats, but I have seen them on the bigger eighty footers and above.  We have a 32 foot monohull we run with a bareboat company in St Martin, and we have land in St Thomas that we are building a small house on. Between the two we probably spend 2-3 months a year down there.  I also have a 34 foot cat project in my barn, lord knows when I’ll start on that one much less finish it.  So far the concept is a biplane soft winged junk rig, but with everything developing as I procrastinate who knows what it will eventually look like. I am hoping that batteries get a lot better, cheaper, and lighter.  I think most of my troubles while cruising can be traced back to the diesel or the outboard in the dinghy, it would be nice to go all electric.

Jerry you are right, a dive compressor would be very nice.  Originally I had to twist my wife's arm to take a diving course, now it is "Honey, going diving with the girls. Can you get the empties filled?"

With the water maker I didn't include the weight of the water in the tank because a water maker lets you carry less water.  The reality though is that I keep the water tank full all the time, just in case.  That adds anywhere from 600 to a thousand lbs.

Good year in the Caribbean?
