The Hoyt rig is clever, but has the same failing as many stayed rigs.  The harder it blows, the fuller the sails get, which is the exact opposite of what is required.  And the bigger the boat, the worse the problem becomes.   

CE at 50% and you need sheets on both ends of the booms, which is not a big deal, except that you need to sheet on the forward sheet to depower the sail.  By the time this is done, it could be too late.

not sure I understand why the sail has to be attached to the mast at all then
but definitely its all about pressure differential, and the suction side is ever more important

one could go a step further than Hoyt
and have the CE of the sail at the mast, a 50% balance
this would provide a more forward CE in both directions
that big yacht 'Maltese Falcon' went that way but it reefs in separate panels which is a pita

the trouble might be uncontrollable twist
