Thank you. I understand the principle. At first view it still does look more simple to have double cushions on the couches and fill the gap between them with one layer of cushions (on backboard) when in bed mode. Probably not as comfortable as a full surface single matress, though.


In the 40 foot range (one of ) the design knot is "the floor levels to hull and saloon are different" with a constant fight between deck clearance and saloon height.

Why not make the floor level of the hull and the saloon identical? This is by moving the whole saloon to ww and center it over the hull and use the floor of the hull to move about in the saloon, ... just like the central hull of a trimaran. Total height of the ww hull lowers by the height of the deck clearance. No lost space. Use of all the typical trimaran space saving tricks. The price to pay is an overhang of couch width to ww of the ww hull. And the cockpit can be up on deck, Steinar's Norwegian proa style.
