It is reasonably easy to make a mould using three panels of melamine.  However that ends up quite large for 40ft hull even if it is only 400 to 500 wide.


You could make the four bow sections the same so one mould is used.  That sort of makes sense because the longer hull tends to be the one more heavily loaded when at speed.  Hence to have the same cross section would not be silly.

Given that there is not much flare I expect it is not going to alter drag measurably.  The sides tend to flare more as the speed to length ratio is reduced.

It is a sharper difference than I expected for 1m bow ... so definitly Stitch and glue for the 2.5m bow end but then I wonder if box mold would not be so much extra work. It could be closer to the original shape but with parallel sides. Would the parallel sides instead of flared affect the drag much ?
